Lambourn Training Grounds

Jockey Club Estates’ Lambourn Training Grounds offers a wide range of facilities fro training Thoroughbred racehorses, on both turf and artificial surfaces. Comprising of over 500 acres, the Training Grounds include 8 miles of turf gallops and 5¾ miles of artificial tracks. They are used on a daily basis by over 450 horses in the care of over 25 trainers based in Lambourn. Also, the facilities are used by many trainers in the south west on a casual (daily) basis.

The Training Grounds are centred on the famous Mandown Gallops, situated to the North west of the village of Upper Lambourn with other gallops in the area also being under Jockey Club Estates’ management. Local Headquarters are located at Limes Far (adjacent to Mandown Gallops).

Mandown Gallops was purchased by Jockey Club Estates in 2006, since then the company has invested heavily in improving facilities.

The training facilities are maintained by a dedicated team of staff known as Gallopmen under the leadership of the Operations Manager. Administration support is provided  by Jockey Club Estates’ Head Office in Newmarket.
